2024 Fantasy Outlook
Betts would've easily captured his second career MVP award in 2023 if not for the bonkers season Ronald Acuna put up. The 31-year-old's .307 average, 39 home runs, 126 runs scored and 14 stolen bases were all highs during his time as a Dodger and his 107 RBI broke a major-league record for a leadoff hitter. Not only that, Betts further added to his defensive versatility, starting nearly as many games at second base (62) as he did in right field (77) while also adding his first career 12 starts at shortstop. He fell just shy of retaining shortstop eligibility, but Betts will enter 2024 with dual eligibility and is expected to be the Dodgers' regular at the keystone. You can make a strong argument for Betts being the second pick in fantasy drafts after Acuna. Read Past Outlooks
Pops leadoff homer Sunday
Betts went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
The Dodgers had all the offense they needed for the win after their first at-bat, as Betts drilled Austin Gomber's first pitch over the wall in left field. Prior to Sunday, Betts had gone 0-for-13 over the last three games, which was his longest slump of the season. That's a testament to his consistency and his elite skills as the tone-setter atop the Dodgers' lineup. Betts is slashing .318/.412/.515 with nine homers, 32 RBI, 43 runs scored, nine stolen bases, 14 doubles and three triples over 60 contests.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Early favorite for NL MVP
Betts was the top vote-getter for National League MVP in a poll among experts on MLB.com.
ANALYSIS
The 31-year-old received 23 first-place votes from 43 respondents, with teammate Shohei Ohtani coming in second with 18 first-place tallies. Betts was named the NL Player of the Month for March/April with a 1.101 OPS in 32 games, though he's taken a step back in May with a .264/.338/.389 slash line. Some ups and downs aren't a major surprise as he adjusts to a new defensive position at shortstop, and Betts admitted Sunday that the transition has been "really, really hard," per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. Betts has performed admirably at one of the most demanding defensive positions with plus-four DRS in 348.1 innings.

Despite a two-week IL stint with a cracked rib, Betts parlayed a career high 47.7 percent fly ball rate into 35 homers, a personal best. The downside was a lower BABIP for the fourth straight season, as Betts' uppercut swing decreased his groundball exit velocity, which torpedoed his groundball BABIP. However, a low 16.3 percent strikeout rate limited damage, allowing Betts to register a 144 wRC+, the third best of his career. Betts' sprint speed fell to 49th percentile, but he still collected double-digit pilfers for the eighth straight campaign. In his salad days, Betts was one of the best, if not the top, fantasy batters, worthy of the top overall pick. Less durability, a lower average and fewer steals have conspired to keep him out of that discussion, but he's still in the first-round chat. Since 2016, no one has scored more runs than Betts. Him hitting at or near the top of a potent lineup should keep that intact.
