The bread and butter here is the fastball, which has received an 80 grade from some scouts. Part of the Marlins' return for Giancarlo Stanton, Guzman sits mostly 95-98 mph as a starter but has reached as high as 103 mph. He also throws a power curveball and a changeup. It speaks to how good his raw stuff is that he was able to post a 3.50 ERA at Double-A Jacksonville last season despite a 12.6 BB%. Chances are, Guzman will not be able to get away with such shaky command and control at the upper levels, at least not as a starter. Now entering his age-24 season, Guzman faces the possibility of a permanent move to the bullpen if he can't learn to rein it in. Guzman would have a chance to reach the majors in 2020 if the team does decide to go the relief route, and he could rise quickly up the ranks in Miami's unsettled bullpen. This is a name to throw on a watch list and monitor early on.
