2020 Fantasy Outlook
The best qualified hitter in the Dominican Summer League by OPS (1.048) and wRC+ (182), Mojica went from a relative unknown to one of the more exciting teenage corner infielders in the lower levels of the minors. He received $350,000 as part of the Pirates' July 2, 2018 international signing class -- most top J-2 guys command at least twice that amount. One of the reasons he wasn't more highly coveted as an amateur is the fact he has a thicker frame (listed at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds) that could result in him eventually moving off third base, which would likely mean his is a R/R first baseman. Even so, there is a chance his bat could be good enough to play anywhere. He slashed .351/.468/.580 with a 17.0 BB% and 15.6 K%, so we could be talking about a plus hit tool with plus power. Mojica doesn't turn 18 until August, which makes his DSL performance all the more impressive.
