Cruz agreed to a $3.95 million deal with the Nationals on Friday, Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Cruz is netting one of the largest signing bonuses in this year's international class, he is not a priority target for dynasty leagues, as most of his current value is tied up in his electric defense at shortstop. He can make highlight-reel plays in the field and adds a bit of flare to the routine plays he makes. His bat projects to be light on impact and he is not a plus runner. The hope is that he will be able to hit for a high average while playing every day.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Likely to sign with Nats
SSFree Agent  A
April 8, 2020
Cruz is expected to sign with the Nationals for around $4 million once the 2020-21 international signing period begins, Ben Badler of Baseball America reports.
ANALYSIS
As a slick-fielding, glove-first shortstop, Cruz might be the best defender in this international signing class. He is also expected to get one of the biggest signing bonuses in this year's group. At 5-foot-11, 165 pounds, the expectation is that he won't be an impactful offensive player, but he turned 16 in January, so the paint is far from dry on his physical development. The international signing period typically begins July 2, but MLB has the ability to delay the start date until as late as Jan. 15, 2021.
