Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Stanley was born in Los Angeles, California on Aug. 18, 1999. He is the son of Jerome Stanley and Tonya Sedwick. His mother competed on the track and field team at UCLA. Stanley was a four-star recruit out of high-school who was ranked as the No. 6 shooting guard in the ESPN Top 100. During his senior year at Sierra Canyon, he led the team to the California Open Division Championship, posting 20 points and even boards in the title game. He also named the 2019 Daily News Player of the Year and CIF Open Division Player of the Year on the back of 17.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists. Stanley chose to go to Duke for college over Oregon and UCLA. At Duke, he was named to the ACC All-Freshman team on the back of 12.6 points and 4.9 rebounds. After that, he declared for the NBA Draft. Stanley played one season at Duke. As a freshman, he started all 29 of his appearances, averaging 12.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 27.4 minutes. He also shot 47.4 percent from the field, 36.0 percent from three and 73.3 percent from the free-throw line. With those numbers, Stanley was voted to the ACC All-Freshman Team, and he was also on the 2K Sports Classic All-Tournament Team. Arguably his best overall performance of the season was during a win over Virginia Tech on Feb. 22. In that contest, Stanley posted 21 points (7-12 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and two blocks with no turnovers in 28 minutes.

Uninspiring Summer League
GFree Agent
July 20, 2023
Stanley averaged 6.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals/blocks in 10.7 minutes per game across four Summer League appearances with Denver.
ANALYSIS
Stanley was the 54th pick in the 2020 NBA draft. The athleticism and playmaking around the basket that fueled his prospect hype still flashes at times, but his shot never developed. He last appeared in the NBA in 2021-22, partaking in nine games with Detroit. Stanley's 2022-23 G League season provides reason for optimism, however, as he connected on 35.6 percent of 3.2 three-point attempts per game.
