DraftKings CFL: Division Semi-Final Round Cheat Sheet

DraftKings CFL: Division Semi-Final Round Cheat Sheet

This article is part of our DraftKings CFL DFS Picks series.

We've reached the CFL postseason, and the divisional semi-final contests unfold on Sunday afternoon. The Alouettes-Tiger-Cats and Stampeders-Roughriders constitute the East Division and West Division matchups, respectively, and each game is projected to be competitive. The Ti-Cats are favored by a relatively modest 4.5 points at DK Sportsbook as of Saturday morning, while the Roughriders are even narrow 2.5-point favorites.

DraftKings CFL Plays- Semi-Final Round

Quarterback

Cody Fajardo, SSK vs. CGY ($10,900): Fajardo should be well-rested for this playoff contest after getting Week 16 off, and he'll face a Stamps team that he performed well against this past regular season. Fajardo scored 12.1 to 17.7 DK points in three encounters with Calgary, and the Stamps are allowing 253.2 passing yards per game and a 65.9 percent completion rate as the postseason begins. Calgary also finished in the bottom half of the league in passer efficiency rating allowed (93.1), and Fajardo finished the season with a 70.0 percent completion rate and 10 touchdown passes at home, along with another three on the ground.

Bo Levi Mitchell, CGY at SSK ($9,500): Mitchell uncharacteristically had trouble with turnovers this season, posting a lackluster 10:13 TD:INT overall. However, the veteran signal-caller didn't throw a pick in any of his last three regular-season games and was interception-free in four of his last five contests overall. Six of Mitchell's 13 interceptions were recorded by the Roughriders over three meeting this season, but he still scored 14.3 to 16.4 DK points in those contests. What's more, Saskatchewan finished the regular season having allowed a CFL-high 273.6 passing yards per game, along with 8.8 yards per attempt, the second-most passing touchdowns (22) and the second-highest passer efficiency rating (95.7).

ALSO CONSIDER: Jeremiah Masoli, HAM vs. CGY ($11,700)

Running Back

Ka'Deem Carey, CGY at SSK ($10,300): Carey was a hit as both runner and receiver in his debut CFL campaign, finishing the regular season with 869 rushing yards and seven rushing TDs (5.3 yards per carry), along with a 26-194 line through the air. Carey was at his most productive on the road with an average of 14.5 DK points per contest across seven games in that split, and despite the Roughriders' stingy run defense, he thrived to varying degree against Saskatchewan in each of the three meetings. Carey scored 10.9 to 25.8 DK points in that trio of contests, averaging over 5.0 yards per carry and recording multiple catches in two of them.

Don Jackson, HAM vs. MTL ($6,800): Jackson took over the lead-back duties for the Tiger-Cats late in the regular season and performed well in the job, scoring 17.2 to 21.0 DK points in his last three regular-season games. The former Green Bay Packer had a notable role in the passing game as well, posting four grabs in each of the last two contests. The Alouettes were about middle of the pack against the run this season, allowing 92.9 rushing yards per game at 5.2 yards per carry while also giving up a CFL-high 14 rushing touchdowns.

ALSO CONSIDER: William Powell, SSK vs. CGY ($10,000)

Wide Receiver/Slotback

Jake Wieneke, MTL at HAM ($10,000): Wieneke averaged an impressive 17.2 DK points per game during the regular season and eclipsed the 20-mark on five occasions, a testament to his upside. He's built some solid rapport with new quarterback Trevor Harris quickly, and he's essentially a lock to be featured heavily in Sunday's playoff clash after logging seven or more targets in nine of 14 games this season. Wieneke had two solid showings against the Ti-Cats this season (10.0 and 17.1 DK points) and Hamilton allowed the third-most completions (310) on the campaign as well.

Kamar Jorden, CGY at SSK ($8,500): Jorden's teammate Reggie Begelton ($10,900) should get plenty of attention after producing 30.0 DK points in his penultimate regular-season game, but Jorden brings just as much upside at a significantly lower salary. The veteran averaged 14.5 DK points per game in his first extensive stretch of playing time since the 2018 season, and he was excellent on the road with an average of 17.2 DK points per contest. Jorden flashed a ceiling north of 30 DK points this season, and in addition to their weaknesses against the pass already detailed in Mitchell's entry, the Roughriders also finished tied with the Argonauts for most completions of 30 or more yards allowed (24).

Tim White, HAM vs. MTL ($6,900): White was an ideal component of the Tiger-Cats' passing attack in his CFL debut campaign, averaging 12.1 DK points per contest on the strength of a 56-774-2 line across 13 games. White even rushed 12 times for 81 yards, and he logged at least five targets in all but two games this season. The Alouettes were tough against the pass all season, but White's locked-in role and very appealing mid-level salary makes him appealing in what should be a wire-to-wire contest.

ALSO CONSIDER: Duke Williams, SSK vs. CGY ($5,700)

Team Defense

Hamilton Tiger-Cats ($5,600) vs. Montreal Alouettes: The Tiger-Cats defense finished the regular season with an impressive average of 9.9 DK points per game, 12.7 per their seven home contests. Hamilton recorded 9.0 DK points in their most recent meeting with the Alouettes as well, and although veteran Trevor Harris will be at the controls for Montreal, he'll have to contend with a Ti-Cats unit that finished third in turnovers forced (33) and points off turnovers (86). Hamilton also finished with a solid 31 sacks and scored four defensive touchdowns, three of those coming at home, where they also gave up just 15.0 points per game.
