Weekly Rankings: Week 11 Value Meter

This article is part of our Weekly Rankings series.

Flex and Defense will be updated later tonight.

Week 12 Notes: Arizona, Kansas City on bye.

Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Player X vs. Player Y?" without any other mitigating factors. Of course, I welcome debate - if you think I'm wrong, let me know. But please check out the rankings first before asking your start/sit question. This truly reflects my opinion in my leagues.

These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.

Starting after Week 1, the rankings for the subsequent week will first post on Tuesday nights. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning. I will post at the top of the article in bold font when ranking updates are in progress and when they're complete.

I welcome debate on the rankings in the comments. Please keep it friendly.

Quarterbacks

1.*Patrick Mahomes KC vs. DAL
Note: Did the Chiefs 'just figure it out' or was this just as much a function of the Raiders giving him plenty of choices underneath? Big matchup this week against the Cowboys' secondary.
2.Josh Allen BUF vs. IND
3.Dak Prescott DAL at KC
4.*Tom Brady TB vs. NYG
Note: Brady really missed Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski in this one, as their replacements struggled to get open and/or hold on to the ball when thrown to - Brady's first pick was really a drop.
5.*Aaron Rodgers GB at MIN
Note: Rodgers sat out practice Wednesday and Thursday but said that he'll definitely play Sunday against the Vikings. ***Cleared from the injury list after a limited practice Friday. Rodgers will likely deal with that toe injury for the rest of the season.***
6.Jalen Hurts PHI vs. NO
7.Justin Herbert LAC vs. PIT
8.Joe Burrow CIN at LV
9.*Tua Tagovailoa MIA at NYJ
Note: Tagovailoa entered last week's game and actually aggravated his finger injury yet remained in the game. He's expected to start this week against the Jets. Full participant in Thursday's walk-through. ***Cleared from the injury list.***
10.Ryan Tannehill TEN vs. HOU
11.Russell Wilson SEA vs. ARI
12.*Derek Carr LV vs. CIN
Note: Carr was lucky to have only one interception with all the arm punts he threw on Sunday night.
13.Kirk Cousins MIN vs. GB
14.Justin Fields CHI vs. BAL
15.*Cam Newton CAR vs. WAS
Note: Newton is taking the first-team reps in practice this week with the expectation that he'll start. ***Officially named the starter.***
16.Mac Jones NE at ATL
17.Jimmy Garoppolo SF at JAX
18.Daniel Jones NYG at TB
19.Taylor Heinicke WAS at CAR
20.*Ben Roethlisberger PIT at LAC
Note: Roethlisberger (COVID-IR) will take part in virtual meetings this week and will have a chance to play this weekend, but right now the Steelers will plan as if Mason Rudolph will start. ***Roethlisberger was officially activated from the COVID-IR on Saturday and should start.***
21.*Trevor Siemian NO at PHI
Note: The Saints have committed to Siemian making a third consecutive starter.
22.Matt Ryan ATL vs. NE
23.*Baker Mayfield CLE vs. DET
Note: Mayfield left last week's loss to the Patriots with a right knee injury but the Browns are optimistic that he can play. Practice will tell the story on his availability this week. Sat out practice Wednesday and said that he's as banged up as ever, but had a limited practice Thursday. Coach Kevin Stefanski expressed optimism that Mayfield can play. ***Mayfield has officially been cleared to start.***
24.Carson Wentz IND at BUF
25.*Trevor Lawrence JAC vs. SF
Note: Lawrence isn't dealing with a complete set of offensive options, but he's also not appearing to make any progress this season.
26.Tyrod Taylor HOU at TEN
27.*Joe Flacco NYJ vs. MIA
Note: Flacco will get the start this week over Mike White and Zach Wilson.
28.*Tyler Huntley BAL at CHI
Note: ***Huntley is next in line to start in case Lamar Jackson (illness) can't go on Sunday. JACKSON OUT, HUNTLEY WILL START.***
29.*Colt McCoy ARZ at SEA
Note: McCoy left last week's loss to the Panthers with a pectoral strain, but the presumption is that he'll be able to return next week if Kyler Murray is unable to go. McCoy was limited at practice Wednesday, and is 'OK' while Murray is 'gotten better every day.' ***ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that McCoy should start this week again.***
30.*Tim Boyle DET at CLE
Note: ***Boyle is expected to start in place of Jared Goff this week.***
31.*Jared Goff DET at CLE
Note: Goff suffered an oblique injury in the first quarter of the Lions' tie with the Steelers but played through it. Goff missed practice Wednesday and Thursday. The Lions have been using Tim Boyle, who is still on IR with a thumb injury, as the QB getting the first-team reps ahead of backup David Blough. ***Goff is officially listed as doubtful, but ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that he won't play.***
32.*Taysom Hill NO at PHI
Note: Hill (foot) sat out practice Wednesday and Thursday. ***Returned to a limited practice Friday and is listed as questionable.***
33.*Kyler Murray ARZ at SEA
Note: Murray (ankle) was able to get in a limited practice Friday last week, but still sat out a second game in a row and isn't guaranteed to return this week. Limited practice Wednesday but is 'getting better every day.' ***The Cardinals won't make an official decision until after pregame warmups, but it looks as if McCoy and not Murray will start.***
34.*Lamar Jackson BAL at CHI
Note: Sat out practice Wednesday and Thursday with an illness. ***Jackson was taken off the injury list Friday, but then added back as questionable on Saturday. He's a 50-50 call for Sunday, with Tyler Huntley waiting as the backup. RULED OUT FOR SUNDAY.***
35.*Mason Rudolph PIT at LAC
Note: Tired of the Steelers' short passing game under Big Ben? Wait until you get a look at Mason Rudolph! He averaged 4.8 yards per attempt against the Lions. ***Roethlisberger was officially activated from the COVID-IR on Saturday.***
36.Case Keenum CLE vs. DET
37.Trey Lance SF at JAX
38.*P.J. Walker CAR vs. WAS
Note: Walker is likely to give way to Cam Newton as the starter this week.
39.*Jacoby Brissett MIA at NYJ
Note: Brissett left with a knee injury Thursday night, giving way to an injured Tua Tagovailoa. Brissett could have returned, but the Dolphins opted to remain with Tua, who is expected to start this week. Brissett has practiced fully, albeit with the second team - he's available if needed.
40.Chris Streveler ARZ at SEA
41.*Mike White NYJ vs. MIA
Note: White got picked off four times in the blowout loss to the Bills.
42.*Zach Wilson NYJ vs. MIA
Note: Wilson (knee) is not yet ready for game action. Joe Flacco will start.

Running Backs

1.*Christian McCaffrey CAR vs. WAS
Note: McCaffrey was not listed on the Panthers' initial injury report.
2.Najee Harris PIT at LAC
3.Dalvin Cook MIN vs. GB
4.Jonathan Taylor IND at BUF
5.Ezekiel Elliott DAL at KC
6.*AJ Dillon GB at MIN
Note: Dillon has a big opportunity to start this week and probably next with Aaron Jones out. Patrick Taylor is the backup.
7.Austin Ekeler LAC vs. PIT
8.*Nick Chubb CLE vs. DET
Note: I'm assuming that Chubb (COVID) will return this week. Chubb hasn't been activated from the COVID-IR as of Thursday afternoon, but Browns OC Alex Van Pelt said that Chubb is trending in the right direction. ***Returned to practice Friday, cleared from the COVID list.***
9.Joe Mixon CIN at LV
10.David Montgomery CHI vs. BAL
11.*D'Andre Swift DET at CLE
Note: Swift has been limited in practice with a sore shoulder this week after carrying a season-high 33 times in the tie against the Steelers last week. ***Cleared from the injury list.***
12.Leonard Fournette TB vs. NYG
13.James Conner ARZ at SEA
14.*Antonio Gibson WAS at CAR
Note: Gibson is going through his usual limited practice routine early in the week. ***Cleared from the injury list.***
15.*Saquon Barkley NYG at TB
Note: Barkley was taking part in all drills on Monday - I'm ranking him as if he'll play but perhaps be limited this week. Meanwhile, Devontae Booker might be out with a hip injury. Barkley was officially limited in Thursday's practice. ***Barkley practiced all week, and is listed as questionable.***
16.*James Robinson JAC vs. SF
Note: Robinson (heel/knee) sat out practice Wednesday, but was limited on Thursday. ***Robinson was limited again on Friday and is listed as questionable, but is expected to play.***
17.Michael Carter NYJ vs. MIA
18.*Mark Ingram NO at PHI
Note: ***Starting again this week, with Alvin Kamara out. He'll probably cede some carries to Tony Jones, who is coming off IR this week.***
19.*Josh Jacobs LV vs. CIN
Note: Jacobs (knee) has been limited in practice so far this week. ***Limited all week, but cleared from the injury list.***
20.*Darrel Williams KC vs. DAL
Note: Williams had a big game Sunday night, but CEH is likely to return this week. Edwards-Helaire's status seems murkier than it was earlier in the week. ***Edwards-Helaire is listed as questionable but expected to play - how will they apportion carries?***
21.*Damien Harris NE at ATL
Note: Harris (concussion) returned to a limited practice Tuesday in advance of Thursday's game. I expect that he'll be able play this week. Harris has been cleared from the injury list in time for Thursday's game.
22.*Jeff Wilson SF at JAX
Note: Wilson took over the backup role Monday night, but only with middling results - 10 carries for 28 yards. He could start this week, however, if Eli Mitchell's finger injury is significant enough. ***Likely to start with Eli Mitchell listed as doubtful. Trey Sermon is the backup.***
23.Myles Gaskin MIA at NYJ
24.*Miles Sanders PHI vs. NO
Note: Sanders (ankle) has been designated to return from the IR, which clears him to practice. ***Sanders has been activated from IR and it appears that he'll play this week - will he get starter's carries in his first game back?***
25.Devonta Freeman BAL at CHI
26.J.D. McKissic WAS at CAR
27.*Rhamondre Stevenson NE at ATL
Note: Stevenson took over last week as the lead back with Damien Harris out, but I think Harris should return on Thursday. Harris has been cleared to play, but Brandon Bolden has been listed as questionable.
28.*Mike Davis ATL vs. NE
Note: Davis was behind Wayne Gallman last week after Cordarrelle Patterson got hurt, albeit in a blowout loss.
29.Devin Singletary BUF vs. IND
30.Kenyan Drake LV vs. CIN
31.*Alex Collins SEA vs. ARI
Note: Collins (groin) was a limited practice participant Wednesday. ***Collins could lose carries to Rashaad Penny this week.***
32.Zack Moss BUF vs. IND
33.*Boston Scott PHI vs. NO
Note: ***Miles Sanders will return this week - how much of a role will remain for Scott? He played well in Sanders' absence, so I don't think that he reverts to a traditional backup role.***
34.*Clyde Edwards-Helaire KC vs. DAL
Note: Coach Andy Reid said that Edwards-Helaire (knee) has a 'good chance' to return this week. Reid on Wednesday said that he's uncertain whether CEH will return - it will depend upon his practice this week, with the Chiefs on bye next week. ***Edwards-Helaire has been activated from IR, so despite being listed as questionable it's presumed that he'll play.***
35.D'Onta Foreman TEN vs. HOU
36.Nyheim Hines IND at BUF
37.Tony Pollard DAL at KC
38.*D'Ernest Johnson CLE vs. DET
Note: I'm going to operate under the assumption that Nick Chubb returns this week. If not, Johnson will reside at or near the top 15. ***Chubb is officially back.***
39.*Latavius Murray BAL at CHI
Note: Murray (ankle) has had back-to-back limited practices this week. ***Murray is listed as questionable but expected to play, but what role will he have?***
40.*Trey Sermon SF at JAX
Note: ***Sermon should be the top backup behind Jeff Wilson with Eli Mitchell doubtful.***
41.Adrian Peterson TEN vs. HOU
42.Alexander Mattison MIN vs. GB
43.Tevin Coleman NYJ vs. MIA
44.*Devontae Booker NYG at TB
Note: Booker missed practice Monday with a hip injury suffered before the bye week. Booker had a limited practice Thursday for the Giants' first official practice of the week. ***Booker practiced on Saturday and is listed as questionable. Barkley is also listed as questionable.***
45.*Rashaad Penny SEA vs. ARI
Note: ***Earlier this week I had removed Penny from the list after he didn't play at all last week, but I've added him back in the wake of Pete Carroll's comments.***
46.*Wayne Gallman ATL vs. NE
Note: Gallman remains behind Mike Davis on the depth chart. So even with Patterson as a game-time decision, Gallman's upside is capped.
47.*Brandon Bolden NE at ATL
Note: Bolden (hip) was limited at practice Tuesday. He was surpassed by Rhamondre Stevenson last week, and now Damien Harris will likely return. Bolden is listed as questionable, and Damien Harris has been cleared to play.
48.Giovani Bernard TB vs. NYG
49.Chuba Hubbard CAR vs. WAS
50.Salvon Ahmed MIA at NYJ
51.*Tony Jones NO at PHI

60.Ameer Abdullah CAR vs. WAS
61.Patrick Taylor GB at MIN

74.Ronald Jones TB vs. NYG
75.Ty'Son Williams BAL at CHI
76.*Elijah Mitchell SF at JAX

77.*Cordarrelle Patterson ATL vs. NE

83.*Chase Edmonds ARZ at SEA
84.*Kareem Hunt CLE vs. DET
Note: Hunt (calf) will remain out this week.
85.*Aaron Jones GB at MIN

Note: Swift has been limited in practice with a sore shoulder this week after carrying a season-high 33 times in the tie against the Steelers last week. ***Cleared from the injury list.***

16.Joe Mixon CIN at LV
