Weekly Rankings: Week 14 Value Meter

This article is part of our Weekly Rankings series.

Flex Rankings will be up shortly

Week 15 Notes: No more byes! Be aware we have two Saturday games this week.

Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Player X vs. Player Y?" without any other mitigating factors. Of course, I welcome debate - if you think I'm wrong, let me know. But please check out the rankings first before asking your start/sit question. This truly reflects my opinion in my leagues.

These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.

Starting after Week 1, the rankings for the subsequent week will first post on

Starting after Week 1, the rankings for the subsequent week will first post on Tuesday nights. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning. I will post at the top of the article in bold font when ranking updates are in progress and when they're complete.

I welcome debate on the rankings in the comments. Please keep it friendly.

Quarterbacks

1.*Aaron Rodgers GB vs. CHI
Note: Rodgers' toe improved with the rest provided by the bye week, though it's not yet fully healed. Still managing practice reps - didn't practice Thursday. ***Rodgers will have to play through the toe injury for the rest of the season.***
2.Tom Brady TB vs. BUF
3.Kyler Murray ARZ vs. LAR
4.Dak Prescott DAL at WAS
5.Patrick Mahomes KC vs. LV
6.Josh Allen BUF at TB
7.Justin Herbert LAC vs. NYG
8.Lamar Jackson BAL at CLE
9.*Taysom Hill NO at NYJ
Note: Hill will attempt to play through his 'mallet finger' injury suffered last Thursday. Full practice Wednesday. ***Hill will start Sunday.***
10.Matthew Stafford LA at ARI
11.Russell Wilson SEA at HOU
12.Jimmy Garoppolo SF at CIN
13.*Cam Newton CAR vs. ATL
Note: Newton was pulled from the Week 12 loss to the Dolphins, but he'll start again this week against Atlanta. Confirmed as the starter on Wednesday.
14.Kirk Cousins MIN vs. PIT
15.*Taylor Heinicke WAS vs. DAL
Note: Teammate Ryan Fitzpatrick will have season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his hip, so Heinecke is locked in for the rest of the season.
16.*Joe Burrow CIN vs. SF
Note: Burrow dislocated his right pinkie finger in the loss to the Chargers and clearly was affected by that injury at points in the game. He'll be limited in practice to begin the week. Burrow didn't take any reps in Wednesday's practice, but he returned to action Thursday. ***Burrow was officially cleared from the injury list, but he probably will still be bothered by the finger during the game. He might also be without Joe Mixon (illness) and Tee Higgins (ankle).***
17.*Ben Roethlisberger PIT at MIN
Note: Roethlisberger (shoulder/pectoral) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice.
18.Teddy Bridgewater DEN vs. DET
19.Derek Carr LV at KC
20.Ryan Tannehill TEN vs. JAX
21.Baker Mayfield CLE vs. BAL
22.*Justin Fields CHI at GB
Note: Fields's status for Week 14 is uncertain - the Bears won't put him at risk medically due to his ribs injury. Fields has been medically cleared and will start this week.
23.Matt Ryan ATL at CAR
24.*Jared Goff DET at DEN
Note: Goff (illness) practiced fully on Thursday. He might not have T.J. Hockenson (hand) this week.
25.*Trevor Lawrence JAC at TEN
Note: Lawrence is making no palpable progress, though the deck is stacked against him.
26.*Zach Wilson NYJ vs. NO
Note: Wilson showed a little something in the loss to the Eagles, though the Eagles adjusted to shut him down in the second half.
27.*Davis Mills HOU vs. SEA
Note: Mills might get back into the starting lineup this week if Tyrod Taylor's wrist injury keeps him out. Mills is likely to start, though that hasn't been made official yet.
28.*Mike Glennon NYG at LAC
Note: Glennon suffered a concussion in the loss to the Dolphins. Glennon wasn't present at Wednesday's practice, but upgraded to a limited practice Thursday. ***Glennon cleared the concussion protocol Friday and will start this week.***
29.Trevor Siemian NO at NYJ
30.*Jake Fromm NYG at LAC
Note: Fromm might end up starting this week, due to Mike Glennon's concussion. ***Glennon cleared the concussion protocol and will start this week. Fromm will be the backup.***
31.*Tyrod Taylor HOU vs. SEA
Note: Taylor might have torn ligaments in his left wrist in the loss to the Colts last week. Full participant in practice Thursday, but is sharing first-team reps with Davis Mills, who looks more likely than not to get the start this week.
32.*Daniel Jones NYG at LAC
Note: Jones's neck injury is putting him on week-to-week status; meanwhile Mike Glennon suffered a concussion in the loss to the Dolphins. It could be Jake Fromm this week. Jones was limited in Wednesday's walk-through practice. ***Jones has not yet been cleared for contact, so he'll sit this week out and Glennon will start.***
33.*Andy Dalton CHI at GB
Note: Dalton threw four interceptions and injured his left hand in the loss to Arizona last week. Dalton didn't practice Wednesday, and has been benched behind Justin Fields. ***Officially listed as doubtful to even be the backup.***

Running Backs

1.*Austin Ekeler LAC vs. NYG
Note: Ekeler is 'banged up' after the win over the Bengals on Sunday, but he's expected to practice. Ekeler has been limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday. ***Cleared from the injury list.***
2.Najee Harris PIT at MIN
3.Antonio Gibson WAS vs. DAL
4.*Alvin Kamara NO at NYJ
Note: Kamara (knee) was a full participant Wednesday, right as Mark Ingram was placed on the COVID-IR.
5.Nick Chubb CLE vs. BAL
6.Leonard Fournette TB vs. BUF
7.*Joe Mixon CIN vs. SF
Note: Mixon briefly left last week after hurting his neck, but later returned. He has now scored in nine consecutive games. Mixon has sat out the first two practices this week with a non-COVID illness. ***Mixon didn't practice all week. He's officially a game-time decision for a game starting at 4:25p ET, but is expected to play.***
8.Aaron Jones GB vs. CHI
9.Cordarrelle Patterson ATL at CAR
10.*David Montgomery CHI at GB
Note: Montgomery has been limited at practice with shoulder/groin/glute issues. ***Montgomery was cleared from the injury report Friday.***
11.*James Conner ARZ vs. LAR
Note: ***It's possible that Chase Edmonds will return Monday night - he's a game-time decision. The Cardinals have until Sunday at 4p ET to decide whether to activate him in time for this week.***
12.*Ezekiel Elliott DAL at WAS
Note: Teammate Tony Pollard might be out this week after tear the plantar fascia in his left foot.
13.*Javonte Williams DEN vs. DET
Note: Williams had a massive game with Gordon out on Sunday night, and draws a really nice matchup against the Lions this week. Melvin Gordon has had two limited practices this week, so I'm guessing we're back to some semblance of a time-share this week.
14.*Dalvin Cook MIN vs. PIT
Note: Cook (shoulder) put in a limited practice Tuesday - his status for Thursday remains uncertain. The initial reporting last week suggested that Cook would be out until Week 15. Conflicting reports all day - the latest suggests that while he is a game-time decision, Cook will play. Adam Schefter is reporting he'll even get a full workload while wearing a shoulder harness. I remain a little skeptical about the workload, but he's officially active.
15.*Sony Michel LA at ARI
Note: ***It looks like Michel will get another start with Darrell Henderson getting added to the COVID-IR on Saturday.***
16.Clyde Edwards-Helaire KC vs. LV
17.AJ Dillon GB vs. CHI
18.*Saquon Barkley NYG at LAC
Note: Barkley (ankle) has been limited both Wednesday and Thursday. His left ankle was taped during Thursday's practice. ***Barkley was cleared from the injury list on Friday.***
19.*Alexander Mattison MIN vs. PIT
Note: Dalvin Cook appears to be back after all.
20.Devonta Freeman BAL at CLE
21.*James Robinson JAC at TEN
Note: Robinson was buried for a while after losing a first-quarter fumble, and was also trying to play through injuries. Robinson will rest his various ailments on every Thursday the rest of the way. ***Robinson has been cleared from the injury list.***
22.*Josh Jacobs LV at KC
Note: Jacobs was force-fed nine targets with Drake and Jalen Richard out last week. Drake is done for the season, but Richard could return.
23.Kareem Hunt CLE vs. BAL
24.*Rashaad Penny SEA at HOU
Note: Penny led the Seahawks backs in snaps on Sunday. ***Penny is expected to be a 'big part' of the game plan Sunday.***
25.*Jeff Wilson SF at CIN
Note: Wilson's knee 'flared up' in the loss to the Seahawks, but he should be able to practice this week. Limited practice Wednesday. ***Wilson has been cleared to play, and Elijah Mitchell is out this week. Wilson will split the work with JaMycal Hasty.***
26.*Jermar Jefferson DET at DEN
Note: ***Both Williams and Swift are out, so it'll be a combination of Jefferson, Godwin Igwebuike and Craig Reynolds in the backfield for the Lions this week.***
27.Ameer Abdullah CAR vs. ATL
28.*Ty Johnson NYJ vs. NO
Note: Johnson has been eclipsed by Tevin Coleman by a wide amount in the two weeks that Michael Carter (ankle) has been out. But now Coleman is in the concussion protocol and has not practiced yet this week. ***Coleman has been ruled out this week.***
29.Matt Breida BUF at TB
30.*Melvin Gordon DEN vs. DET
Note: Gordon (hip/shoulder) is expected 'to practice at some point during the week' after missing Sunday night's loss to the Chiefs. Gordon has participated in limited practices Wednesday and Thursday so far this week. I think he'll end up playing, albeit less than Williams. ***Gordon was limited at practice all week and is listed as questionable, though he's expected to play.***
31.*Dontrell Hilliard TEN vs. JAX
Note: Hilliard could get hurt some by the return of Jeremy McNichols.
32.Devin Singletary BUF at TB
33.Chuba Hubbard CAR vs. ATL
34.Darrel Williams KC vs. LV
35.*JaMycal Hasty SF at CIN
Note: I temporarily (hopefully) bumped up Hasty with Wilson limited and Mitchell dealing with both a concussion and a knee issue. If Mitchell is fully out, I might go a notch or two higher, but I don't view him in the same light - I think he'll share with the likes of Brian Hill and Kyle Juszczyk instead of being a full-time back. ***Mitchell is out, but Jeff Wilson will play - he and Hasty will split most of the work.***
36.Latavius Murray BAL at CLE
37.Mike Davis ATL at CAR
38.*Devontae Booker NYG at LAC
Note: If Barkley sits out, I'd move Booker up to around 20th among RBs.
39.*Rex Burkhead HOU vs. SEA
Note: It looks as if David Johnson will be back this week. ***Johnson was a late add to the COVID-IR.***
40.*Godwin Igwebuike DET at DEN
Note: ***Both Swift and Williams are out, so Jermar Jefferson and Igwebuike will split the carries for the Lions. I'm guessing, and it's just a guess, that Jefferson will get more work.***
41.*Samaje Perine CIN vs. SF
Note: ***Joe Mixon missed practice all week with an illness and is a game-time decision, though he's expected to play. However, I'd expect Perine to get more work than usual.***
42.*Alex Collins SEA at HOU
Note: Collins (abdomen) should be able to return this week after sitting out last week, but what role will he have? Limited practice Wednesday. ***Collins has been cleared from the injury list.***
43.Carlos Hyde JAC at TEN
44.*Austin Walter NYJ vs. NO
Note: Walter was permanently added to the active roster by the Jets. ***Walter should get some run with Tevin Coleman (concussion) ruled out this week.***
45.*Zack Moss BUF at TB
Note: Moss was active again Monday night, and got a decent amount of work after Matt Breida fumbled.
46.*Ronald Jones TB vs. BUF
Note: Jones left last week's game with an illness.
47.*Jeremy McNichols TEN vs. JAX
Note: Full practice Wednesday.
48.Justin Jackson LAC vs. NYG
49.Khalil Herbert CHI at GB
50.Jaret Patterson WAS vs. DAL
51.D'Ernest Johnson CLE vs. BAL
52.Giovani Bernard TB vs. BUF
53.D'Onta Foreman TEN vs. JAX
54.Eno Benjamin ARZ vs. LAR
55.Kene Nwangwu MIN vs. PIT
56.Tony Jones NO at NYJ
57.Demetric Felton CLE vs. BAL
58.*Travis Homer SEA at HOU
Note: Homer was limited Wednesday with calf and hamstring injuries. ***Ruled out this week.***
59.*Mike Boone DEN vs. DET
Note: ***Boone was placed on the COVID-IR after testing positive.***
60.*Tony Pollard DAL at WAS
Note: Pollard suffered a torn plantar fascia of his left foot and will be a game-time call. ***Pollard didn't practice all week. He's a game-time decision, but the Cowboys aren't optimistic that he'll play.***
61.*J.D. McKissic WAS vs. DAL
Note: McKissic (concussion) took part in a limited practice Thursday. ***McKissic had another limited practice Friday, but apparently didn't yet receive clearance from the concussion protocol yet and thus is unlikely to get that clearance before Sunday's game.***
62.*Elijah Mitchell SF at CIN
Note: Mitchell entered the concussion protocol on Monday - during the game on Sunday he was checked for a concussion but was cleared to return. If he gets cleared to play, I'll put him around 10th. Mitchell is also dealing with a knee issue and didn't practice Wednesday. ***Ruled out this week.***
63.*Darrell Henderson LA at ARI
Note: Henderson (thigh) was active in name only last week, sitting out while Sony Michel shouldered the load. Henderson was limited in Thursday's walk-through. ***Henderson was added to the COVID-IR on Saturday and is unlikely to play Monday night.***
64.*Jamaal Williams DET at DEN
Note: D'Andre Swift (shoulder) has not yet practiced this week. ***Williams tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday and will miss this week's game.***
65.*D'Andre Swift DET at DEN
Note: Swift (shoulder) has not yet practiced this week. ***Swift might end up on IR and he's definitely out this week.***
66.*Tevin Coleman NYJ vs. NO
Note: Coleman is in the concussion protocol and hasn't yet practiced this week. ***Coleman has been ruled out this week.***
67.*Mark Ingram NO at NYJ
Note: Tested positive for COVID-19 and placed on IR.
68.*David Johnson HOU vs. SEA
Note: Johnson (thigh/illness) practiced fully Wednesday. ***Out with COVID.***
69.*Adrian Peterson at
Note: ***Peterson has a lower back injury and won't be elevated from the practice squad in order to play this week.***
70.Michael Carter NYJ vs. NO
71.DeeJay Dallas SEA at HOU
72.*Chase Edmonds ARZ vs. LAR
Note: Edmonds (ankle) was designated to return from IR on Thursday, making it possible he plays on Monday night. ***Edmonds hasn't yet been activated from IR, but the Cardinals can wait until Sunday at 4p ET to do so and still have him available for Monday night.***
73.*Kenyan Drake LV at KC
Note: Drake suffered a broken ankle that will require surgery and is out for the season.

Wide Receivers

1.*Davante Adams GB vs. CHI
Note: Adams has had two limited practices this week because of a sore hamstring.
2.*Cooper Kupp LA at ARI
Note: Kupp was limited in Thursday's walk-through with a sore toe. ***Full practice Friday.***
3.Justin Jefferson MIN vs. PIT
4.Diontae Johnson PIT at MIN
5.Stefon Diggs BUF at TB
6.Mike Evans TB vs. BUF
7.Tyreek Hill KC vs. LV
8.*Ja'Marr Chase CIN vs. SF

9.CeeDee Lamb DAL at WAS
10.Chris Godwin TB vs. BUF
11.Tyler Lockett SEA at HOU
12.*Mike Williams LAC vs. NYG
Note: Williams has been placed on the COVID-IR as a close contact of Keenan Allen - it's still possible that he could play this week. ***Williams was activated from the COVID-IR and will play this week.***
13.Hunter Renfrow LV at KC
14.*Tee Higgins CIN vs. SF
Note: Higgins (ankle) sat out Wednesday's practice and returned to a limited practice Thursday. ***Higgins had another limited practice Friday and is expected to play, though he's officially questionable and a game-time decision for a 4:25p start.***
15.Terry McLaurin WAS vs. DAL
16.DeAndre Hopkins ARZ vs. LAR
17.*Deebo Samuel SF at CIN
Note: Samuel (groin) is 'day-to-day' and the Niners are hopeful he can play this week against the Bengals. I'll move him up in the rankings if/when he practices or otherwise gets cleared. Did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. ***Samuel got in a limited practice Friday and it seems as if that will be enough to allow him to play again this week. My ranking will be a little cautious this week in his first game back.***
18.Marquise Brown BAL at CLE
19.*Amari Cooper DAL at WAS
Note: Cooper had limited snaps last Thursday in his return from the COVID-IR, but he should be back close to normal this week. ***Deemed to be fully back to normal for this week.***
20.*DK Metcalf SEA at HOU
Note: Metcalf (foot) had his customary missed practice Wednesday, but then missed Thursday with an illness. ***Cleared from the injury list Friday.***
21.*Chase Claypool PIT at MIN

38.Christian Kirk ARZ vs. LAR
39.*Allen Robinson CHI at GB

Note: Back in the mix with Corey Davis out and Elijah Moore's status unsettled.

Note: Bateman had only one target Sunday, thanks to the Steelers' pass rush not giving Lamar Jackson much time to find Bateman on deeper patterns.
56.*Marquez Callaway NO at NYJ
Note: Deonte Harris is serving a three-game suspension and Kenny Stills has been cut. Thus Callaway, Tre'Quan Smith and Lil'Jordan Humphrey should see their snaps and targets increase.

Note: ***Goodwin (foot) is listed as doubtful.***
86.*Adam Thielen MIN vs. PIT
