2023 Fantasy Outlook
Asiasi began 2022 by getting cut by the Patriots and was subsequently claimed off waivers by the Bengals. He played a minimal role in the offense, netting just two catches for five yards while backing up Hayden Hurst and Mitchell Wilcox. The Bengals didn't add a tight end in the draft, so while Asiasi won't likely play a big role in the offense, he has a reasonable chance to make the team out of training camp. Read Past Outlooks

2020
Asiasi suited up for just one regular-season game in 2021, logging just 11 snaps on offense and zero targets. His lone appearance corresponded with the one-game absence of fellow tight end Jonnu Smith. The 2020 third-rounder is signed with the Patriots through the 2023 season, as is Dalton Keene, who also was a third-round choice in 2020. However, neither of the two pass catchers will be on the fantasy radar as long as both Smith and Hunter Henry are healthy and available.
Asiasi, who the Patriots took 91st overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, finished his rookie season with two catches on seven targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in nine games. Meanwhile, fellow first-year tight end Dalton Keene caught three passes for 16 yards in six contests. It was hardly the production the Patriots were looking for when they used a pair of third-round picks to secure the duo, a notion underscored by the team's aggressive pursuit of Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith in free agency this offseason. Following the addition of the duo, it's hard to see a path to reliable volume for Asiasi in 2021.
Minus Rob Gronkowski, the tight end position became largely an afterthought in the Patriots' passing game last season. As April's NFL Draft approached, the Patriots' tight end corps was down to Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo. It's therefore no surprise that the team doubled-down with a pair of third-rounders, taking Asiasi 91st overall and then selecting Dalton Keene in the No. 101 slot. Both players have some long-term fantasy upside, but with a QB transition on tap in the wake of Tom Brady's departure, it may take some time for either to yield dividends. The 6-3, 257-pound Asiasi showed above-average athleticism at the combine, running a 4.73-second 40-yard dash on a dense frame. With LaCosse having opted out of the 2020 season, Asiasi will have to hold off competition from Keene for the team's starting tight end assignment in Week 1.
