Competing for starting role
Texans GM Nick Caserio told reporters Thursday that Green (shoulder) must earn his starting spot as the offseason progresses, Cole Thompson of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Green sustained a shoulder injury during the Texans' preseason finale that forced him to miss the entire 2023 season, but his rehab process has been going well, and he could partake in voluntary offseason workouts this week. Once he's able to return to the field, the 2022 first-round pick is expected to compete with Kendrick Green for Houston's top left guard position.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Green underwent offseason knee surgery and was brought along slowly during camp before settling in at left guard on the starting offensive line in camp. A first-round draft pick in 2022, Green missed time during camp with a concussion and tried to play catch up in the regular season. It was hard to do with Houston's sputtering offense. The Texans will look for improvement from the second-year guard, who finished 133rd out of 141 guards in blocking (116th run blocking, 122nd pass blocking), as measured by Pro Football Focus.
