DraftKings NHL: Monday Breakdown

DraftKings NHL: Monday Breakdown

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

There are seven NHL games on the docket Monday night. The Flames-Maple Leafs game is a rematch from last night, and the Coyotes will be on a back-to-back against the Kings. The Bruins and Flyers will play again Tuesday as well.

All advanced statistics are courtesy of Natural Stat Trick.

GOALIES

Connor Hellebuyck, WPG vs. OTT ($8,400): Hellebuyck is coming off a couple of tough-luck losses, though he posted a .938 save percentage over two games versus the Maple Leafs. The Senators are a significantly easier opponent. There aren't many signs of promise, either, as they rank 30th over the last five games with 1.69 xGF/60 at even strength.

Philipp Grubauer, COL at MIN ($8,100): The Wild are in contention to take the West, but the Avalanche still seem to be on another level. Grubauer has been spectacular in his own right, though, generating a .950 save percentage and an 11-0-01 record over his last 12 appearances. The Wild's offensive chances have been drying up of late, too, posting 1.81 xGF/60 over the last two weeks (27th in the league).

Jack Campbell, TOR at CGY ($7,900): Head coach Sheldon Keefe said Saturday that Campbell would start Monday, but the 29-year-old netminder missed Sunday's practice. With his injury history, keep tabs on his status before game time. If he's in net, he's an intriguing option with a .951 save percentage and an 8-0-0 record this season. The Flames have averaged 1.6 goals per game over their last seven outings.

VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS

Travis Konecny, PHI at BOS ($3,900): Konecny has dished out eight assists over the last nine games. The 24-year-old has fired 20 shots on net without a goal in that stretch, plummeting his DFS salary. Having scored at a 17-percent clip last season, he's bound to see some positive regression soon. Jaroslav Halak looks set up for the start, and he's posted a 3.28 GAA over his last seven appearances.

Valeri Nichushkin, COL at MIN ($3,100): Nichushkin is an analytics darling, and he's starting to come through with seven points over the last eight contests. The Wild's goaltenders are starting to regress now, as they've given up 2.59 G/60 at even strength over the last two weeks. That ranks 12th in the league, which isn't awful, but Nichushkin comes at a bargain.

Robert Thomas, STL vs. VGK ($2,500): Thomas has elite upside with blazing speed and a wicked release. He's centering the third line and has gone pointless in six straight games. The Golden Knights present a solid chance to get back on track, as they rank 29th in the league over the last two weeks with 2.77 xGA/60.

LINE STACKS

Bruins vs. Flyers

Patrice Bergeron (C - $7,400), David Pastrnak (W - $8,900), Brad Marchand (W - $7,300)

Carter Hart got back on track Saturday, but there's no guarantee he stays that way. This line has been excellent against the Flyers this year, though, especially Pastrnak, who has posted two hat tricks over three games. Marchand and Bergeron each have two multi-point games against them as well. It's worth spending up in tournaments because if this line hits, you'll need them.

Jets vs. Senators

Mark Scheifele (C - $6,400), Nikolaj Ehlers (W - $7,100), Kyle Connor (W - $7,000)

When Scheifele and Connor have been on the ice together over the last 10 games, they've generated 2.96 xGF/60. Ehlers is a net positive for this situation, as he's racked up 15 goals and 21 assists across 38 games. The Senators' goaltending situation is in limbo, but regardless of who's in net, there's a major opportunity, as they've allowed 2.72 xG/60 over the last two weeks (fourth-most in the league).

Kings vs. Coyotes

Anze Kopitar (C - $6,000), Alex Iafallo (W - $5,000), Dustin Brown (W - $5,700)

The Kings may not be very deep, but this line has some firepower. And the matchup against the Coyotes should raise the ceiling further. Adin Hill has held down the fort for the Coyotes. This will either be his seventh straight start or Ivan Prosvetov will make his first career start. Either way, the Coyotes don't provide their goalies with much defensive support, allowing 2.64 xG/60 over their last seven games.

DEFENSEMEN

Cale Makar, COL at MIN ($5,900): Makar keeps on churning out offense, putting up 10 points over the last 10 games. He's a constant threat, and with the Wild reeling a bit -- they've given up 2.39 xG/60 over the last seven games (the eighth-most in the league).

Alec Martinez, VGK at STL ($5,800): Martinez has modest offensive upside with 20 points through 36 games, but it's his high floor that makes him appealing. The 33-year-old has blocked 24 shots over the past six outings, hitting the shot-blocking bonus in five of those appearances. His upside is raised against the Blues' 26th-ranked PK (75.0 percent).

Matt Grzelcyk, BOS vs. PHI ($4,800): Grzelcyk quarterbacks PP1 with the Boston forward stack. He's an excellent distributor, posting three goals, five assists and 39 shots on net over the last 12 games. Philly's PK (73.6 percent) ranks 28th in the league, boosting his ceiling even further.

Noah Hanifin, CGY vs. TOR ($3,300): Hanifin got off to a slow start this season with just three assists through the first 24 games, but he's back on track with eight over his last 14. His power-play time will be key against Toronto's 20th-ranked PK (77.7 percent).
