DraftKings NHL: Monday Breakdown

DraftKings NHL: Monday Breakdown

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

There are eight games on Monday's docket. None of the teams played last night, but the Panthers, Predators, Hurricanes and Stars will all be playing tomorrow. Make sure to check back on goalie confirmations ahead of time.

We'll be targeting the Panthers, Oilers and Avalanche in this slate. All three are high-powered offenses going against some struggling defenses. However, there's plenty of value elsewhere to add some variety to your lineups.

All advanced statistics are courtesy of Natural Stat Trick.

GOALIES

Devan Dubnyk, COL at STL ($8,400): The Blues didn't really deserve to win Saturday afternoon, as they posted just 1.27 xGF/60 at 5-on-5, doing most of their damage on the power play. I have questions about Dubnyk's abilities in the blue paint, but I have no qualms about using any Colorado goaltender against the Blues right now, as they've simply not generating enough chances right now.

Braden Holtby, VAN at OTT ($8,000): Holtby has won three straight starts while putting up a .935 save percentage, seemingly taking over the No. 1 job until he loses it. One of those wins was against the Senators, and they remain a favorable matchup with just 1.92 xGF/60 at even strength since the start of the month.

Mike Smith, EDM at WPG ($7,600): Smith still seems to be a bit under appreciated this year despite sitting ninth in the league with a .921 save percentage. There's a ton of value to be found with one of the cheapest goalies on the docket. He's a perfect 3-0-0 against the Jets this year, and the Jets rank last over the last two weeks with just 1.57 xGF/60 at even strength.

VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS

Brock Boeser, VAN at OTT ($6,500): Boeser has recorded 17 goals -- seven with the man advantage -- and 37 points this season, and he's contributed four points in as many games since the Canucks returned to action. He's a power-play maestro, so Ottawa's 78.0 penalty-kill percentage (22nd in the league) isn't a major impediment.

Andrei Svechnikov, CAR at DAL ($4,900): Svechnikov's salary is still a bit deflated, but he's starting to convert. The 21-year-old has recorded three goals, two assists and 19 shots on net over the last six games. John Klingberg (lower body) -- the Stars' top defenseman -- is questionable for this contest, too, adding value for Svechnikov tonight.

Andreas Athanasiou, LA vs. ANH ($4,100): Athanasiou's points come in bunches. He's gone pointless in four of the last six games, but he posted multiple points in the other two contests. He shoots with solid volume, too, providing a decent floor. John Gibson used to be the bandaid in Anaheim, but the Ducks' defense has been helpless lately, so he posted a 3.15 GAA in April.

Tyler Bozak, STL vs. COL ($3,100): Bozak is on a six-game, eight-point streak, and now he's centering a line with Vladimir Tarasenko. If you're not buying the Dubnyk tip, then Bozak is the best value you'll find at center in Monday's slate.

LINE STACKS

Oilers at Jets

Connor McDavid (C - $9,200), Dominik Kahun (W - $2,500), Jesse Puljujarvi (W - $4,400)

McDavid is tearing up the Great White North, and the Jets are no exception. He has produced four goals and 11 assists against Canada's newest team. Puljujarvi has provided a modest five points against them, but he's red-hot right now with four goals and a helper over the last five contests. Connor Hellebuyck is in a bit of a slump right now, too, posting an .879 save percentage and 3.65 GAA over his past five appearances.

Panthers at Predators

Sam Bennett (C - $3,800), Anthony Duclair (W - $4,600), Jonathan Huberdeau (W - $6,200)

This line has been firing on all cylinders since Bennett's arrival in Florida, as they've combined for six goals and 15 assists across the past five games. The sheer amount of talent on this line makes this production sustainable, especially against a suspect Nashville defense that has given up 2.56 xG/60 at even strength over the last two weeks (27th in the league).

DEFENSEMEN

Cale Makar, COL at STL ($6,100): The Blues' penalty kill is quite bad, as it ranks 29th in the league at 75.3 percent. Makar has been a thorn in their side, as eight of his 10 points against the Blues have been with the man advantage. Feel comfortable spending up for him, as the floor stays high with Makar.

Erik Karlsson, SJ vs. ARI ($4,800): In the month of April, Karlsson has registered just four points despite ranking fourth among blueliners with 3.41 xGF/60 at even strength. He's bound for some upward regression. It may be tough against the Coyotes' sturdy defense, but Karlsson's not breaking the bank at this salary.

MacKenzie Weegar, FLA at NSH ($4,100): Weegar has put up 29 points through 47 games, putting him on pace for 55 points in a full 82-game season. He's having a breakout party, and it's time to get in on the fun. Weegar's intriguing for fantasy purposes as a willing shooter and a brave shot blocker, and the matchup against the Predators is bound to open some doors.

Jake Walman, STL vs. COL ($2,600): Take a flier and save salary space elsewhere. Walman is averaging nearly 2.5 shots per game over the last seven, but he's put up just two points in that stretch. He's playing on the third pairing, though. With Colton Parayko (upper body) and Vince Dunn (undisclosed) questionable, more playing time could be in store for Walman.
