FanDuel NHL: Sunday Targets

FanDuel NHL: Sunday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Following a few monster days of puck watching, we finish the week off with a two-game slate starting at 2 p.m. EST.

Both Dallas and Anaheim will be playing on the second-half of back-to-backs, so St. Louis and Detroit will try to get an advantage. The biggest factor on smaller schedules is making sure to pick the correct netminder and peripheral players.

DISCLOSURE: Things may not be the same at puck drop due to COVID-19. Make sure to monitor the news feed and play at your own risk.

GOALIES

Jordan Binnington, STL vs DAL ($8,300): Binnington has been anything less than stellar of late with 15 goals conceded in his last four appearances, though he's averaged 30 saves over that stretch. The Stars are still struggling to score and will be on the second of consecutive days after waiting until late to beat the streaking Penguins 3-2.

CENTER

Robert Thomas, STL vs DAL ($5,300): Thomas is no stranger to this article as he hasn't disappointed this season - yet. The second-line pivot is sporting a solid 1-4-5 line with six shots across his last five outings. Thomas offers the benefit of skating with two decent wingers who also unfortunately eat into his shot volume.

Dylan Larkin, DET at ANH ($7,700): With the Ducks starting late last night, they'll be slightly out of gas against the streaking Larkin. In the last five appearances, he's accumulated nine points and 15 shots. As the top-salaried center on the small slate, that's exactly the offensive upside we're looking for.

WING

Jamie Benn, DAL at STL ($5,400): Benn hasn't been productive in recent seasons, but looks to be entering form with two goals, two assists and eight shots from three contests. He should also be able to contribute thanks to a size advantage over the Blues' smaller forwards.

Tyler Bertuzzi, DET at ANH ($6,400): Bertuzzi has been the other half of Larkin's production this season and isn't showing any signs of slowing down with five goals and eight shots over five games. He's mainly goal-dependent, but his goal-to-shot ratio is incredible. If Detroit is going to produce any goals, the puck will surely find Bertuzzi.

DEFENSE

John Klingberg, DAL at STL ($4,900): Klingberg was on fire in December with 10 points, 14 shots and 11 blocked shots. Those numbers have continued into 2022 with three helpers from the first two contests. At under $5K, Klingberg makes for an excellent value play.

Jamie Drysdale, ANH vs DET ($4,200): Drysdale had underperformed last month after lighting the ice on fire to start the season. But he's rebounded a bit with two assists, four shots and three blocked shots over the last five outings. With multiple Ducks sidelined with injuries and COVID, Drysdale will need to step up against the Wings' weaker defense.
