She'll try to stack victories against an opponent in Godinez who has won two fights in a row. Hughes will have three inches of height and three and a half inches of reach on her opponent when the two square off in September.

Hughes defeated Jaqueline Amorim via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 287 on Saturday in Miami.
ANALYSIS
Hughes was unable to defend the takedown in her loss to Piera Rodriguez last October. It was more of the same in the opening round here, as Amorim landed both of attempts in the first five minutes. She appeared to be in position to choke Hughes out on multiple occasions, only to see Sam survive each one. Once Round 2 began, Hughes was in control the rest of the way. Amorim's cardio immediately evaporated, and Sam simply kept up the pressure and cruised to what would end up being a fairly lopsided unanimous decision win. Hughes' 3-4 UFC record is quite mediocre, and she likely would have lost this fight if Amorim had any idea how to conserve her energy, but the victory should help ensure Hughes' roster spot for the time being.
