Snaps brief losing streak
FeatherweightUFC
April 6, 2024
Jackson defeated Alexander Hernandez via split decision (29-28, 27-30, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's going to go down as one of the most lucrative evenings of Jackson's long pro career. He'll leave the UFC Apex with both his show and win bonus, plus a (likely hefty) portion of Hernandez's purse after the latter missed weight on Friday morning, prompting this featherweight fight to be turned into a 148-pound catch weight bout. When the bell rang, Jackson did his usual thing. He stuck tight to his opponent, landed three takedowns, and survived a Round 3 knockdown from Hernandez. Most importantly is the victory snaps a two-fight losing streak for the 35-year-old Texan.

Drops war to Billy Quarantillo
FeatherweightUFC
August 5, 2023
Jackson lost to Billy Quarantillo via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN 50 on Saturday in Nashville.
ANALYSIS
It was a wild, back-and-forth affair. Jackson was the far more effective fighter early on before fading. He landed one takedown in each of the three rounds, but the opening frame was the only one in which he had Quarantillo in any sort of trouble. To Jackson's credit, he continuously pushed forward and tried to create offense even when it was clear he was getting the far worse of the action. Set to turn 35 years of age three days after this event takes place, Damon's second stint with the UFC has gone far better than the first, but he's now lost back-to-back bouts on the heels of a four-fight winning streak. Jackson's job might be on the line his next time out.

Win streak snapped at four
FeatherweightUFC
January 14, 2023
Jackson lost to Dan Ige via KO (punch) at 4:13 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Jackson had been great during his second stint with the UFC, entering have won four straight and five of six dating back to his September 2020 return. Yet, he seemed out of sorts in this fight from the very start. Facing a heavy-handed opponent with fight-ending power, Jackson got clipped a couple of times early and never seemed to be able to get on track. Damon picked up a knockout victory over Pat Sabatini in his most recent bout last September, but he typically struggles in anything other than a prolonged mat battle. He failed on his lone takedown attempt in this fight. A huge uppercut to the jaw late in Round 2 ended Jackson's evening on the spot. Now 34 years of age, there's a real chance we have already seen the best Damon has to offer inside the Octagon.
